Dr. Heather Lacey, DVM

Veterinarian & Co-Owner

Dr. Lacey knew from a young age that she wanted to become a veterinarian. Growing up on a sheep farm in Bruce County, her love of animals was encouraged by her father, who was also a veterinarian. Her first job was cleaning kennels at a local small animal clinic, giving her an early look at veterinary practice and community care.

After years of study, Dr. Lacey graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2007. She began her career at a busy practice in Port Elgin, where she worked for five years before moving with her family to Barrie. She then spent nine years at Aldergrove Animal Clinic, building lasting relationships with colleagues and clients.

Now a resident of Oro-Medonte, Dr. Lacey is excited to serve the community through Horseshoe Valley Veterinary Hospital. “I enjoy getting to know my clients and patients, and working with them so they can make the best possible decisions to help their pets live happy, healthy lives,” says Dr. Lacey.

Dr. Cameron Lindsay, DVM

Veterinarian & Co-Owner

Dr. Lindsay grew up in Barrie, Ontario and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2008. He has been practicing companion animal medicine in Simcoe County ever since.

His special interests include dental surgery, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and parasitology. When he is not practicing veterinary medicine, he can be found enjoying a variety of outdoor activities or relaxing at home with his Boston Terrier, Maude and his new not so little puppy Jerry!

Cam has a special interest in surgery, with a particular love for dental procedures. Whether it’s restoring a smile or tackling a challenging case, surgery is where Cam feels most energized and fulfilled.

Dr. Holly Spring, DVM

Veterinarian & Co-Owner

Dr. Holly Spring grew up on her family’s dairy farm in Elmvale, Ontario. Growing up in the area, she can’t be more excited to be practicing in the communities that she knows and loves.

Dr. Spring graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2011, and has been working in the area since. Her special interests include dermatology, chronic pain management, and senior feline medicine.

When she is not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Spring can be found at the gym or spending time with her friends and family. She is the proud cat mom of Tina and Wally, an entitled Boston Terrier named Maude, and a derpy mini Dachshund named Doris. 

Dr. Candice Hibbs, DVM

Veterinarian & Co-Owner

If you ask Dr. Hibbs’ family, they knew she was destined to be a veterinarian early on in life. Animals would follow her around, and she loved them right back! Dr. Hibbs, however, remembers wanting to be a kindergarten teacher and it wasn’t until visiting the veterinary clinic with their new family puppy, Dakota, that becoming a veterinarian came to light for her. Contemplating these career choices, she completed a co-operative education course at Aldergrove Animal Clinic in high school. Dr. Hibbs quickly learned that the veterinary profession was for her, and couldn’t be happier with her career choice.   

Dr. Hibbs grew up in Barrie, Ontario. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2010. Since then, Dr. Hibbs has been practicing veterinary medicine in Simcoe County. Dr. Hibbs has special interest in surgery, preventative medicine including proper weight management and chronic pain/quality of life management in our senior pets. She particularly loves the bonds she is able to develop with each pet and their humans. She is thrilled to be joining the team at the Horseshoe Valley Veterinary Hospital!

Dr. Mikkyla Reid, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Reid is a passionate veterinarian who has been practicing in the area for the past four years.  Dr. Reid  values building long-term relationships with clients and their pets and feels privileged when she can be a part of their care year after year. She enjoys the variety that veterinary medicine brings—from wellness visits and treating sick pets to performing surgeries—no two days are ever the same!

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Reid enjoys spending time with her husband, young son, and their two beloved pets: Eddie their energetic mini Australian Shepherd and Lua their fluffy cat. Her hobbies include dance classes, going on walks around the lake, travelling, and gardening to name a few things.

Maura

Registered Veterinary Technician, Hospital Administrator

Maura grew up in Owen Sound, Ontario, where her love for animals began at a young age through her involvement in 4-H. She graduated with honours from the Veterinary Technician program at Georgian College in 2007 and has been a dedicated member of the veterinary field ever since

Maura has a special interest in surgery and anesthesia, as well as ensuring the smooth day-to-day function of both the hospital and the team. As Hospital Administrator, she is passionate about creating an efficient, supportive environment that allows the entire team to provide the best possible care for patients and clients.

 Outside of work, Maura enjoys baking, gardening, binge-watching her favourite Netflix shows, and spending time with her family.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Andrea is a Registered Veterinary Technician with over 20 years of experience in the field. She started her career in Toronto, and moved to Barrie with her husband and daughter 10 years ago. 

She shares a home with a dog, Luna, and a cat, Mr. Scratchy

In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking, crocheting, hiking, and camping with her family. 

Andrea loves dogs and cats equally, and she is guilty of kissing your pet when you aren't looking.

Ashley is a Veterinary Assistant at Horseshoe Valley Veterinary Hospital, where she helps support both patients and the veterinary team throughout each visit. With a caring approach and a genuine love for animals, Ashley helps create a comfortable, welcoming experience for pets and their families.

Whether she is assisting with appointments, supporting treatments, or helping patients feel more at ease, Ashley brings patience, compassion, and a positive attitude to her role. She is proud to be part of a team dedicated to providing thoughtful, personalized veterinary care to the local community.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Justine grew up in Fort Erie, Ontario.  After completing an undergraduate degree in Peterborough, she took a different direction to pursue small animal care and wildlife rehabilitation.  She graduated from Northern College in 2015 with her veterinary technician and wildlife rehabilitation diplomas.

Initially she had wanted to work with wildlife and had spent a month volunteering on a wildlife rehab reserve in South Africa.  She fell in love with taking care of the rhinos, lions and a baby hippo.  Justine has worked in small animal medicine for 6 years and has grown to love working with dogs and cats. 

Her interests lie in dog behaviour and senior health management. In her spare time she enjoys watching football and baseball, baking and spending time with her three fur kids. She has a brindle mutt named Nova and two cats named Hamlet and Tux.
